Day one

What you get on day one.

No trial period and nothing locked away. This is what the first version of Blungie includes.

  • A feed of picture cards

    Swipe through illustrated words with audio, a meaning in your language and real example sentences.

  • Four short review games

    The words you add come back as quick games, spaced out over days and weeks so they stay with you.

  • Your own word lists

    Every word you add is saved in My Words. Group them into collections and share a collection with a link.

  • Gentle reminders

    A word of the day and a nudge when reviews are due. Never more than two notifications a day.

How to get started

Three steps to your first word.

  1. Install the app

    As soon as Blungie is live, install it from Google Play on your Android phone.

  2. Make it yours

    Pick your language, your English level, the topics you like and a daily goal. You can change them later.

  3. Swipe and add words

    Swipe through the cards and tap “Add to learning” on the words you want. Blungie plans your reviews.

No account needed to start. You begin as a guest. If you want to keep your progress across devices, sign in with email or Google whenever you like.

Requirements

What your phone needs.

  • Android 8.0 or newer

    Blungie is made for Android phones and works in portrait mode.

  • Internet for the first start and for search

    After that, recent cards and reviews keep working through short connection drops, and your actions sync when you're back online.

  • Notifications are optional

    Blungie works fine without them. If you allow them, they're only for the word of the day and review reminders: at most two a day, never between 22:00 and 09:30.

  • A small audio cache

    Recently played audio is kept on your phone, up to 40 MB, so words play instantly.

When will Blungie be available?

We're in the last round of testing and don't want to promise a date we can't keep. The day Blungie goes live, this page and every button on the site will link straight to Google Play.

Is there an iPhone version?

No. Blungie is an Android app, made for phones running Android 8.0 or newer. There is no iPhone or web version.

Is it free?

The current version has no ads, no subscriptions and no in-app purchases, so everything you see in the app is available to you.

Do I need an account?

No. You can start right away as a guest. If you create an account with email or Google, your guest progress moves to that new account, so you can continue on other devices. It can't be merged into an account you already have.

Which languages does the app speak?

The app and all meanings come in 12 languages: Turkish, Spanish, Portuguese (Brazil), German, French, Italian, Arabic, Russian, Japanese, Korean, Chinese (Simplified) and Hindi. English is what you learn, so the app itself has no English interface.
